DR VICTOR VAZQUEZ PRIORITIES

What we need is a plan, we know what the problems are but what we do not have are plans.  Benjamin Franklin, one of our earliest great thinkers said “If You Fail to Plan, You Are Planning to Fail”. I believe in long term planning not just short term. We need to decide what kind of City of Miami Springs we will have for our children and grand children. That is why as Councilman I worked and, when re-elected, will keep on working on a strategic plan to include economic development, affordable housing, and safety for our community!
Proven Leadership for the City of Miami Springs!

- Dr. Victor Vazquez

LIST OF PRIORITIES
IMPLEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE BUSINESS & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TASK FORCE

Although the City of Miami Springs is emerging from the pandemic, economic success remains unequally distributed, with persistent gaps in earnings, labor force participation, and business ownership. As an educator and administrator with experience in employee training and as a proven elected official with a track record of supporting business development, I will engage stakeholders from the governmental, educational, business, and non-profit sectors to jump-start entrepreneurship, workforce development, and economic diversification so that all residents can participate in our city's future prosperity.

PEACEFUL, SAFE AND SECURE NEIGHBORHOOD

Unacceptable trends like rising rates of violent crime and weapons violations, distribution of hate-filled flyers, dangerous driving, and persistent code violations must be reversed so that every Miami Springs resident can live, travel, work, attend school, shop, and enjoy the blessings of life in peace, safety, and security. I will vote to increase the professional preparation and effectiveness of law enforcement officers, improve the efficiency of traffic and code enforcement, and restore the role and functions of Community Councils. I favor pocketbook-sensitive, locally driven solutions that improve our community safety and neighborhood quality of life.

HOTEL BED TAX

It is imperative that our City government addresses and works hand in hand with the Miami-Dade County Mayor to address the Hotel Bed Tax. This tax can be used to offset costs, presently incurred by our city, of Miami Springs Police presence at NW 36th Street hotels. Our city's safety is important and our police force has been for years helping and protecting us from any criminal activity in the Miami Springs city borders.

KEEP TAXES LOW

Keeping taxes low has been a priority since I became your Councilman two years ago.  When I am re-elected to continue my work with the City Council, I will work diligently and creatively to find revenue sources without impacting our community.

KEEPING OUR GREEN AREAS

From sea level rise to pollution to the quality of drinking water to the beauty of our public parks and streets, the environment is an important part of our quality of life. I believe the growth of our economy and housing inventory must be balanced with the preservation of these natural assets so that our children and grandchildren can continue to enjoy all the blessings that the City of Miami Springs offers. I will support best growth management practices and make sure we keep our green areas in Public Domain
