MESSAGE TO FELLOW DEMS
DR VAZQUEZ'S MESSAGE
What we need is a plan, we know what that problems are but what we do not have are plans. Benjamin Franklin, one of our earliest great thinkers said “If You Fail to Plan, You Are Planning to Fail”. I believe in long term planning not just short term. We need to decide what kind of County we will have for our children and grand children. That is what I will be proposing on the Miami-Dade County Commission, a Twenty Five year strategic plan to include economic development, affordable housing, rail transportation, climate and community safety among others by 2050!
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT & SUSTAINABLE JOB CREATION
Although Miami-Dade County is emerging from the pandemic in excellent economic shape, success remains unequally distributed, with persistent gaps in earnings, labor force participation, and business ownership between men and women, among racial and ethnic groups, and from neighborhood to neighborhood. Skills gaps between our workforce and those employers are demanding to limit our future economic prospects. As an educator and administrator with experience in employee training and as an elected official with a track record of supporting business development, I will engage stakeholders from the governmental, educational, business, and non-profit sectors to jump-start entrepreneurship, workforce development, and economic diversification so that all residents can participate in our County’s future prosperity.
